An amusing and interesting Japanese Bronze Model of a Macaque. Seated on his haunches dressed in a short Happi coat decorated with a peach spray to the back. The animal is puzzled by a one of his kind netsuke which is attached to an inro. Cast foundry stamp to the base, height 26cms A fine example of the work of Watanabe Yoshimasa the monkey is cleverly both naturalistic and anthropomorphic. Meiji period.
Condition: Excellent.
